To our knowledge these people have never owned a dog or a cat or any livestock except for one milk cow for the whole village of Mudende. Presenting each family with a ewe sheep gave them something they can call their own.
For the people who have little to no food or jobs or land they are extremely grateful to now have their own land to farm. It gives them a job, some food and a little income.
The rich volcanic soils along with two rainy seasons makes the growing of corn, cabbage, potatoes, beans and grain sorghum profitable.
The farming is headed by Francois Nzirorera and is done in both Mudende and Kanembwe. They have their own farms and their own farm managers. They recently decided to share their harvest with another village of Blessing people in Humure.
